Handmade porcelain buttons sea salt. These are about 17mm and sold in different sets. Product photo shows a sample set from this series. Size and placement of the pattern is different from button to button. Product photo shows just some of them, please allow minor differences as all the buttons are 100% handmade.
To achieve the final look these buttons are glazed with 2 glazes in overall 4 layers which makes the creation process technically demanding and tricky as the risk of the glaze filling in the holes or sticking to the kiln shelf is extremely high due to the small size of the buttons.
As most other our buttons these were fired two times. First firing is the so called bisque firing where temperature goes as high as 1000C degrees. After that our buttons are ready to be glazed. We put 4 layers of glaze manually and when they've dried, buttons are fired for the second time at about 1230C degrees. The backside of the buttons stays unglazed.
Can you wash the buttons in a washing machine? We would always go for handwash to provide extra care. However smaller buttons can also be washed in a machine, provided you chose wool or handwash program and the garment is turned inside out and put in a laundry bag. The buttons are not afraid of water or temperature, its all about continuous strokes against the washing machine drum when spinning. For buttons 23mm and bigger we strongly recommend handwash.
As a courtesy to the new safety regulation in European Union we herewith inform you that when ceramics fall from a height and break there may occur sharp edges and shards. Please be careful.
